Nur Sultan

Nur Sultan is a truly amazing and beautiful modern metropolis of the country. This small provincial town known for its cold weather was declared the new capital of the country in 1997 by the decree of the first President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev. In a few years the city has changed beyond recognition. Its construction is still going with a super speed because of the wide avenues and beautiful promenades, top-level hotels, mirrored skyscrapers and futuristic buildings and today the capital appears to tourists like this. By the way, the city is divided into two parts by the Ishim River, in other words, the right bank and the left bank, which are fundamentally different from each other. So, we will tell you more about it.

Tourist note:

If you want to see the history of the city, then go to the right bank. There are many ancient buildings and attractions of the nineteenth century. And the severe types of building without modern excesses allow you to imagine how the city looked during the Soviet Union.

Those who want to take a dip in the modern life of the metropolis you are welcome to the left bank. There are fantastic buildings, as if they are cut from films about the distant future, and numerous malls, bars and restaurants. It is bubbling over with energy even at night. Besides, the most famous sites are also located on the left bank:

Bayterek is one of the main symbols of the capital. An observation deck is located at the top of the 97-meter tower. A breathtaking view of the entire metropolis opens from it.

Water-Green Boulevard is a great place for hiking along the fountains, flowers, and unusual sculptures in ethnic style. A single architectural ensemble connects Khan Shatyr with Ak Orda, the residence of the President.

Khan Shatyr is the world’s largest pavilion designed by architect Norman Foster. There are numerous boutiques, attractions for adults and children and even a private beach with a constant temperature of 35 degrees and sand brought from the Maldives.

At first sight, the Hazret Sultan Mosque strikes with its grandeur. Today it is the largest Mosque in Central Asia. At the same time about 10 thousand people can be here.

It is possible to see miniatures of the main sights of Kazakhstan in Atameken Park. There is a huge relief map which is enlarged with new exhibits every year.

Art lovers can devote a day off to a trip to the Opera and Ballet Theater. Specialists from 33 countries participated in its construction. The repertoire of the theater consists of both Kazakh and European classical works.

Duman is another place for a family vacation. There is a huge aquarium where you can see the most unusual sea life. By the way, the distance to the nearest sea is more than three thousand kilometers!

If you are interested in the history of Kazakhstan, you should visit the National Museum of Kazakhstan. You can study artifacts found as a result of excavations of ancient mounds and towns in the presented expositions.

We have given only a small part of the attractions that you can see in the capital. We recommend you to stay in the city for a few days to see everything slowly and easy.
