The U.S. Special Representative of the President for South and Central Asia, Sergio Gore, and the U.S. Deputy Secretary of State, Christopher Landau, visited the Locomotive Assembly Plant (Wabtec), located in the capital of Kazakhstan.

The U.S. government representatives toured the plant's production facilities, assessed its technical equipment, and examined the work of the Wabtec Engineering Center, which opened in 2024.

The plant began operations in 2009 and, in a relatively short period of time, has become a leader in Kazakhstan's mechanical engineering industry. The participants noted Wabtec's long-standing, successful partnership with Kazakhstan, spanning over 25 years.

The plant's locomotives boast high energy efficiency, power, and reliability. The cabs feature comfortable conditions for drivers, including air conditioning, a refrigerator, a microwave, and a composting toilet.

Since its launch, the plant has manufactured 675 units, 42 of which have been shipped to CIS countries and neighboring countries.
